Huppert meets charity supporters at Strawberry Tea

Cambridge MP, Julian Huppert took time out for a special Strawberry Tea party in the House of Commons.

Arranged by Breast Cancer Care, the event was a chance for him to find out more about the charity’s work to support people affected by breast cancer and the issues that are important to the 46,000 women and men diagnosed with the disease each year. 
 
 

Minister to meet Huppert after academics refused visas

A government minister has offered to meet Cambridge MP Julian Huppert to discuss his concerns that visa regulations could damage the country’s reputation for education.
 
Julian raised the issue in the House of Commons yesterday (Thursday, July 9) because he claimed a number of academic visitors coming to the UK for just a few days had been denied entry.

He said a number of House of Commons’ positions including that of the Speaker, are elected using the preferential voting system.

Lib Dems sweep to victory as under 18s go to the polls

Cambridge youngsters gave a resounding vote of confidence to the Liberal Democrats
when taking part in mock elections for the under 18s.
 
They went to the polls in the Y Vote Mock Elections, part of the Hansard Society’s Citizenship Education Programme designed to educate and involve young people in parliamentary democracy.

Huppert discovers cost of crippling disease

Members of a leading charity met Cambridge MP Julian Huppert to explain how a crippling disease affects not only the health of the city’s residents but the health of the economy.
 
Julian was told that rheumatoid arthritis costs every parliamentary constituency in the UK around £12 million in lost productivity – a total of almost £8 billion. In Cambridge £9.10 per head of population is spent on dealing with the disease.
