Oakington like a barracks with room for improvement - Huppert
Cambridge MP Julian Huppert visited the controversial Oakington Immigration Centre yesterday (Friday, July 23) and discovered there is clearly room for improvement
He was joined by David Jenkins, Cottenham, Histon and Impington County Councillor and David Reeves, Chair of Oakington Parish Council for a guided tour of the centre and a chance to meet the detainees.
Clegg promises to close Yarl's Wood after Huppert's question

Huppert pledges to work to end child poverty

MP Julian Huppert has promised to become a Child Poverty Champion working in Cambridge and Parliament to end child poverty for all UK children in the next 10 years.
Julian has signed a personal pledge drawn up by the Child Poverty Action Group which claims Britain has one of the highest child poverty rates in Europe.
Huppert gets government action for ex-armed forces homeless
The plight of homeless ex-service personnel is to be examined by the Government after Cambridge MP Julian Huppert raised the issue in the Commons.
Julian called on the government to take action after discovering that 30 per cent of the city’s homeless have a military background.
