MP co-sponsors radical Bill to overhaul drug safety tests

MP Julian Huppert has co-sponsored a Bill to overhaul drug safety tests and protect patients from adverse reactions.
 
Patient safety charity Safer Medicines Trust wants a comparison between new safety tests based on human biology and the animal tests currently required by law, to show which would better ensure the safety of consumers. The Safety of Medicines Bill calls on the
government to insist on this comparison.

County council attacked over guided bus "fixation"

Cambridgeshire County Council has been accused of being so fixated with the guided bus that other facilities lost out as a result.
 
The attack came from Cambridge MP Julian Huppert yesterday (Tuesday, July 27) as he led a Westminster Hall debate on the city’s transport problems.

A law forced through in the last days of the Labour government which could lead to web blocking, must be scrutinized by the government, Cambridge MP Julian Huppert told Parliament.
 
Julian believes that sections of the Digital Economy Act deny freedom of expression, competition, innovation and could lead to an abuse of civil liberties.

Huppert takes visa rules fight to Immigration Minister

MP Julian Huppert yesterday (Monday, July 26) met Immigration Minister, Damian Green to fight again for the future of Cambridge language schools after the government overturned a High Court ruling.
 
Julian joined English UK Chief Executive, Tony Millns and succeeded in urging Mr Green to think again about a change in the visa rules which means overseas visitors coming to the UK to study English have to have a good grasp of the language.

Huppert to lead Parliament debate on city transport problems

MP Julian Huppert is to lead a Westminster Hall debate on Tuesday (July 27) setting out the best strategy for solving Cambridge’s transport problems.
 
Julian, who will be joined by Transport Secretary, Norman Baker, will call for increased access to public transport and the creation of sustainable communities to build a “fairer society”.
